Help inspire creativity and art-making that enlivens our community!

Art for these times

From the earliest of times, humans have turned to artmaking for enjoyment and fun, comfort and solace, meaning and reflection, to escape and to understand. Art spaces like Imago Foundation for the Arts (IFA) create a place for people to experience the richness of what it means to be human, to find community and share feelings, thoughts and identities through art, poetry, talks, film, and music.

Located in the heart of Rhode Island’s East Bay, IFA has been a gathering place for artists and art lovers since 2003. We are an eclectic group of visual and literary artists, filmmakers, musicians and art enthusiasts who practice our art and develop programs to share our space and talents with other artists and art lovers.

We do this with the support of individuals and organizations like you, who share our belief that art empowers lives and enriches communities in many ways.

For 2025, we will have a special emphasis on Enriching Life with Art as we offer a series of lectures and programs on responding to and collecting art; and provide opportunities to learn about film; hold art-making workshops, artist talks, concerts and performances; and present facilitated conversations with poets.

Each year, we organize at least eight art exhibitions; welcoming over 100 guest artists who participate in both juried and open community exhibits.

This year, we hosted an open exhibition featuring the artwork of 22 K–12 Rhode Island art educators. Our annual community art exhibit featured over 200 works of art by 80 artists and attracted an audience of over 200 visitors. We also offer concerts and poetry events, artist talks and workshops, a drop-in portrait drawing group, a film club and share our space for presentations by other community groups.

Since 2018, we’ve awarded more than $6,400 in art scholarships to Mount Hope High School graduates pursuing a college education in the arts.

We collaborate regularly with Art Night Bristol-Warren, Discover Warren and many other local arts, cultural and community organizations to help build Rhode Island’s East Bay as an arts and cultural destination.
